Container Handling Equipment
Ever since the export of quayside container cranes to the United States in 1970, the very first instance by a Japanese manufacturer, IHI has always been a major player in the world's progress towards containerization. The need for a large scale, high-efficiency container transport by global shipping industry is rising ever larger and faster. IHI keeps responding to it with the fruits of advanced engineering capacity, such as super post-Panamax quayside cranes for accommodating gigantic container ships with 22 rows on-deck and innovative ''zero-sway'' quayside cranes that drastically improve work efficiency by eliminating container sway. In order to meet demands for fully automated operation, IHI is working on materialization of next-generation container terminal incorporating the latest results of information technology.
