IHI Parking System began in the 1960fs. In the wake of the Tokyo Olympics, the nationwide leisure boom ignited rapid motorization, propelling the construction of major motorways throughout Japan. In 1962, IHI installed Japanfs first tower parking at Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.

Since then, IHI has continued to develop its expertise designing numerous vertical parking structures, and has become one of the leading companies in the parking industry.

In October 2005, Ishikawajima Transport Machinery (IUK) acquired IHI, transferring the entire parking business including the brand, technology, and all business rights. IUK is continuing to further the development of the IHI brand.

The tower-style parking structures have become the bestseller with over 8,000 units installed, maximizing limited parking spaces with smooth, durable and safe operational capabilities.
